What type of moulding material (Step 1) is provided?
The moulding material is a seaweed-based material called alginate. It is non-toxic, hypo-allergenic and safe for the skin – including babies. If you have concerns, we recommend you check your sensitivity by testing it on your skin.
What if I have long fingernails?
For best results, it is best to manicure your nails as long nails can tear the alginate mould.
How do I get my hand out of the mould?
Although the mould is very strong and firm, it is also very flexible and slippery inside. It will feel like a slight suction but do not worry – a slight wriggle will help you remove your hands.
Can I wear my wedding ring or other jewellery during the casting process?
Of course you can. For best results, wear tight-fitting rings, or simple and engraved jewellery. Remove non-waterproof watches.
What if we wiggle or move during the 3D moulding process?
As long as the hand remains submerged within and completely covered by the moulding material, the hand can be allowed to wiggle slightly within the material without affecting the final mould. Remaining steady for the final 5-10 seconds is ideal.
